Seasonal joy on your own terms ...
As we enter into the heart of the festive season, as much as it can feel magical, for some it can also feel overwhelming or maybe it’s not you're thing and its annoying to see it everywhere.
It’s something we can’t really avoid, however doing it on your terms is the key to success, reclaim the way you experience joy in this and own that. Even if this means avoiding the season and doing your own thing.
I am a self confessed Christmas lover so I’m all over it, but I can see how it can be overwhelming with so much going on and we can lose the reason to why we love something if we aren’t doing it in alignment with ourselves and in the way that feels good for us. It can be easy to spread yourself to thin, and you get all backed up and we feel too much pressure.
I remind myself this too, and to stay in my centre with it all.
Of course we maybe surrounded by people who all have different ideas, so naturally compromise maybe needed.
My message here is don’t lose touch with the joy, remember why you love and enjoy something in the first place or maybe why you don’t. There is definitely no right or wrong here its simply doing it in the best way for you.
The energy of joy is infectious and when you feel joy it’s spreads from you and the people around you feel it, so begin to cultivate the feelings of joy inside of you. Get clear on that feeling and stay connected to it.
What brings you joy?
What is your version of joy this season?
What does this feel like to you?
What does it look like to you?
We will all have a different answers to these, feel into your answers.
Does it feel good in your body and nervous system?
I ask this question often because I find it’s the surefire way to really know if something is right. Our nervous system always knows and responds to everything!
Get in your joy centre by doing this you will feel more regulated and you feel good about the season.
Remember whatever your feelings about the season, self care is important and staying on top of this will allow you to feel optimal when things are busy. Self care looks different for us all so go with what works for you and remember to adjust it accordingly.
Staying grounded and get out in nature whenever possible, this in my opinion really helps and just connects you to the season around you and allows you to get back in your body beyond all the hustle and bustle.
For me embodiment is having dance party or a sing song with myself, I sit on chair and dance it out. It feels good and brings me back to my centre.
As it’s the season of giving, and there are people less fortunate than you, do something for others. It’s not about the size of it or the thing you do its the thought. This alone spreads joy and feels good, and when we pass it on like this it creates a ripple affect.
Whatever your version here I’m sending you all the seasonal joy and blessings and the reminder you got this, and when you embody what your version of joy feels like, you will never go wrong.
I’m off to continue my version of festive joy, embracing all the magic, music, food, decoration and wearing all the Christmas jumpers! ( especially the wham one !)
Wishing you all the festive joy.
All my love
