The Samhain reset ...

Samhain/ Halloween has always been a favourite time of year for me, I just find October a magical month. It’s also the half way point to winter solstice, and gives us a moment to pause before the festive season amps up, but also before the full decent to winter.

I love bringing out all the pumpkin magic and playing all the witchy movies and dressing the house up. It just feels like a magical time, and of course of these things get commercialised, like lots of things do. But there is a deeper reason and in the wheel of the year Samhain is the start of wheel turning again, in a word a new year.

How about bringing those new year vibes in and having a refresh?

I love this and I love that from autumn equinox we watch the unfolding of autumn and move deeper into it to be met at Samhain with this pause and this reset.

I talk about the power of pauses often and I love how the wheel turns to give us these pauses and points of reflection.

Pausing allows us to not only reflect but to see perspective and allows us a reset, this is something within society we are not encouraged to do but to always push through. When we stop pushing we flow and things become more aligned.

As we cross over  and the wheel turns this is your invitation to:

  • Reflect on the year so far.

  • Express gratitude for all the things in your life.

  • What can you release?

  • What has brought you joy?

  • What can you celebrate?

  • How have you been caring for yourself this year, is your cup over flowing or dried up?

  • Do you feel grounded and anchored in your body?

  • How is your nervous system feeling?

  • What do you want going forward and how do you want to feel?

By sitting with these things and feeling into them and acting on them can bring about shifts in your life for the better. By getting clear and looking at things its empowering and allows us to reconnect to ourselves on a deeper level.

Beyond all the halloween stuff and if that’s not your thing, you can still mark this point in a more subtle way.

Clear your space, open the windows, whether its a physical clean or making a few changes and having a declutter ( always a good things), this clears the energy and creates new energy in your space and remember to be intentional with this. Mindful intentional decluttering is far more effective than ruthless decluttering the energy behind it is different, it doesn’t need to be drastic.

Light a candle for Samhain, and prepare a warming feast to welcome wheel of the year resetting and share with those around you the celebrations, the gratitude and the things you want to release and if you like to write things down you can always burn or flush the things you are releasing. Set your new intentions for this turn of the wheel to winter solstice, make sure they feel good in your body and nervous system.

If you're a meditator or however you do this, take a few moments of quiet and a few minutes for yourself too.

Lastly get outside and be in nature at this midway point, ground yourself and your intentions into the earth.

Let your enter and transition through this halfway point with a renewed energy and clarity.

Do you like Halloween?

Or do you mark Samhain or may be not at all?

Even if you don’t want to get to woo woo over this, simply taking a pause and having some reflection will bring you nothing but benefits anyway.

Happy Samhain/ halloween.

Remember the magic is within you!

All my love
