Realign and reframe your January ...
January starts full of hope and we feel fired up, and then sometimes we hit a slump or hit the post festive blues. Now while I love a good intention or goal and something to work towards, I recognise that here in the northern hemisphere we are in mid winter. Therefore in actual fact its hunker down season and things actually start to wake up at the beginning of February when it’s “Imbolc”.
So firstly if you’re not feeling it or your lacking lustre and struggling to get things off the ground, be kind to yourself and remember thats ok. Step back and reframe this all, now this doesn’t mean I'm suggesting to not set goals and or intentions.
I just really want you to think about what you want and more importantly how you want to feel.
What does it feel like in your body, anchoring things in this way really changes things.
What do you actually want your January and year ahead to look like and why?
I say this because so much of the stuff we think we want is often from the outside, of what we think we should want or should be doing. Its therefore really important to unpack the layers around this to get really clear for yourself, and to really shake off others ideas and opinions.
It’s then thinking about the steps that are needed to get towards something, now of course life happens and we can’t always control things but we can set things down and lay some foundations.
We also need to think about in those foundations, about the real things that need to be done to get somewhere. Let’s say you have this big idea, but your mental health or things in your life are all over the place. What would make your idea more lightly to start to happen is working on getting your life more stable or your mental health. This is just one example, and of course I recognise we can’t always wait for things to be perfect I’m by no means suggesting that, but its looking at the bigger picture of your life before you which allows you the clarity here.
If there are things in your life that aren’t really working or are heavy or blocking you, looking at this to clear space is important, and allows you to make room for the things you really want to make happen too. Of course things like this can take time and be complex but it’s thinking about this and making a step in the right direction.
This goes for your physical space too, it could be a case of clearing or making changes here.
Taking things step by step, even down to creating healthy routines that work for you and set you up is a great place to start. You can tailor things to work for you which means the possibility is endless, small positive habits can lead to great changes and lay down positive foundations for the long term.
Lastly, we all work and relate differently to seasons and cycles and we all can be in different seasons or stages of our lives. Actually figuring this out is helpful and when we start to understand our own rhythms and the season we are at, it allows us to make the right things happen. Even a business has it’s own cycle, and when we hack things in this way it’s empowering and we take our power back.
This gets us off the comparison train and focused on our own path and true north, you may see others killing it but you could be at a beginning stage or an end stage which means its a year for tying things up. Once you are aligned and in tune with this, it changes the game for you.
I, of course am not saying we can’t make things happen at any time, of course we can, but I’m suggesting getting smart and hacking things in this way means that things are actually aligned with you.
As I close this up, my last suggestion is don’t figure this all out alone or at once “Rome wasn't built in a day” things take time, whether it’s with a friend of a group of people or even someone professional, this always helps and allows us to feel supported.
I hope everyone’s January starts well, I would love to hear your thoughts on this share with me here.
Remember “you got this” I’m rooting for you all to have a good year on your terms.
All my love
