In a world where there’s so much chaos confusion and busyness right now, there has never been a better time to reclaim joy in your life.

When we are connected to joy, it brings some welcome light and happiness into our lives. With how the world has been the last year and more, people have certainly been feeling less joy, and often it has been fleeting if it has been felt too.

Therefore finding more joy in your life is good medicine for your wellbeing as a whole.

Now of course we don’t want to bypass whats going on, and just bandaid everything with joy. The truth is that isn’t true joy anyway.

What brings joy to one person won’t for another, this is important to remember.

The dictionary definition of joy is “a feeling of great pleasure and happiness” it references tears of joy.

Defining what joy means for you and how that feels is what’s most important here. Getting clear with this will help you really see how joy feels in your life.

It’s more than ok for it to look different from what your friend/society/family defines as joy for instance.

Think about your life right now.

Do you feel there’s a lot of joy in your life right now?

What does that look like?

What brings you joy?

What people feel joyful in your life? ( this is important too)

Personally I don’t think we can ever bring too much joy into our lives, so don’t try and limit it, that’s for sure.

These are key questions to answer and you can’t get them wrong, if you start over-thinking this you are actually moving further away from joy not closer to it.

Now you maybe reading this, thinking “my life is filled with joy” which is great, but you know what there’s always room for more.

If you don’t feel like there’s enough joy in your life, the next step is to think about what small things can you do to bring more joy in your life.

Small steps always add up if you are consistent.

Remember feeling appreciation and gratitude for the joy you already have in your life no matter how small, brings more feelings of joy in.

So bring out those gratitude lists.

Rather than having highs and lows with joy, think about how you can bring more joy into your life sustainably, this will benefit your long term well being.

Joy is good for the nervous system, which is never a bad thing to keep in balance and has positive long term effects on your over all wellness.

Some things that bring me joy are doing nice things with friends and family, sitting outside reading in the sunshine, maintaining my spiritual practise, listening to my favourite music, my house feeling tidy, doing self care practises that I love, learning new things, my plants, phone calls with friends, watching a good film, travelling, eating at one of my favourite places. Now of course the list could go on, I also feel appreciation daily for the joy in my life.

I also want to address that you can be experiencing something that isn’t so good in your life, but still experience joy in parts. Remember letting yourself suffer and not finding anyways to support yourself, will keep you stuck and unhappy and block joy.

Let’s also address, denying yourself joy because you think people may judge you because you're meant to be in a bad place, is no good what so ever.

What ever you’re feeling right now, get on the joy train and find way ways to bring more joy into your life.

Have your joy cup over flowing.

Share with me what brings you joy?

All my love
