Episode 26 - Finding Grace with Em Deacon
On this episode of Finding Grace today I am joined by Em Deacon, who was a Dr in the NHS but after a diagnosis of stage four breast cancer, she is no longer is a DR but co runs Deacon wellbeing with her husband and is navigating the place she is in right now, she uses her social media to show you can make it count what ever is going on in your life. Em is a mum to a three year old girl and lives with her husband.
I came across Ems social media account after the lovely Jessica Huie shared it, Jessica was a previous podcast guest on here. I felt compelled after seeing Ems account to reach to her and share her story and wisdom on here.
On this episode Em we discuss :
What finding grace means to her, right now and how she relates to it, and shares her story of finding grace with her cancer diagnosis and how she’s navigating this.
She shares when faced with a difficult situation how to navigate your mental health, and how she does.
We discuss how it’s been therapeutic her sharing her journey online.
She shares all about deacon wellbeing, how she no longer treats disease, she helps others develop the skills needed to nurture their mind, body and soul.
We talk about how changing the narrative can really help shift you, and why it’s been important for her.
We discuss, self acceptance v self improvement, and how she relates to this.
We get on the subject of allowing yourself to still feel good about herself and sexy, despite this situation and how she sees herself rather than cancer being her identity.
She shares the tools she finds useful to help her on this journey.
She’s her advice to anyone faced with this situation.
Em shares her wisdom with such grace and honesty on this journey that she’s been taken on because of her diagnosis, I hope you enjoy this beautiful episode, it’s such a full episode with so much to takeaway.
We would love to continue this conversation.
